TortoiseSVN (Subversion)
The piece of software named above has been an important part of my senior project process.
It hasn't been working well for me, either. It's evidently something on my end (as Lee reports that it works just fine for him), and has been happening for a while, an omen of further bad things wrong with the computer that were to come.
So, without SVN working, I had been transmitting files via good ol' email attahcments.
Anyway, what Subversion is is a system whereby those working a on a project involving computer files have a "repository" in which a folder of the relevant files are stored. You download the batch of files in the repository, work on them (and crwate new ones, as the case warrants), and then upload the new version of the repository. Subversion keeps track of these differing versions of files, which those creating complex programs could have an obvious use for. It's also useful when you want multiple people to work on the same project.
TortoiseSVN is just a Windows program that can access and work with Subversion systems.
